We all know that Jimmy Kimmel is fucking Ben Affleck and Sarah Silverman is fucking Matt Damon. But who's fucking Casey Affleck? Oh, it's Summer Phoenix (sister of Joaquin and River)...Maybe someone more famous should be fucking Casey Affleck, like David Letterman or Jay Leno because Casey has surpassed his big brother. Ben's acting "talent" has been questioned in numerous blogs, movie websites, celebrity magazines, etc. He has had bomb after bomb at the box office and his relationship with J-Lo definitely hurt his credibility.
Ben's career: Started off strong with supporting roles in School Ties and Dazed and Confused. Then Kevin Smith came calling with Mallrats and Chasing Amy and his star was on the rise. He hit the big time when he co-wrote and starred in Good Will Hunting, with his best bud Matt Damon. They won an Oscar, you know the story...Then he started making movies like Reindeer Games, Pearl Harbor, and Paycheck. Then he met his doom with roles in Gigli and Jersey Girl with Miss Fat Booty. "The talent is in the choices," says Robert De Niro and Ben certainly didn't say no to many film offers.
Casey's career: Casey had a supporting role in his big bro's Good Will Hunting. It was a good role, but obviously Matt and Ben got (and deserved) all the credit. He was funny in the American Pie movies, who gave his little brother the sex manual. Then the three Oceans' movies came and even though it wasn't my favorite series, it was entertaining. Now, we see Casey in The Assassination of Jesse James by the Coward Robert Ford. He played Robert Ford, opposite Brad Pitt's Jesse James, and it earned him a Best Supporting Actor nomination. After that, he was in Gone Baby Gone (Ben directed), which was a really good movie.
Although Ben Affleck may always be the bigger star, Casey has the potential to be a better actor than his brother. Casey seems to have earned a lot respect in those back-to-back roles. He may not be the "next action star" or make the girls go absolutely crazy, but he definitely has star power. Casey could remain the younger brother of Ben Affleck and will probably star in a lot of Ben's movies, but has Ben destroyed his career to the point of no return? His direction in Gone Baby Gone was well done. Maybe he has a better shot at "respect" as a director.
I can't even remember the last time I saw Ben Affleck in a movie that I liked. It might have been Boiler Room where he plays Jim Ryan, the recruiter of the shady investment firm. I actually liked him in that and the movie came out in 2000. Anyway, what do you think?
