film is a disease and we're the cure

Best Movie Trilogies Ever!

10. X-Men

Let me just say that the X-Men movies were really entertaining. The first two by Bryan Singer were well done, but then Brett Ratner helmed the third. Everyone knows that Bret Ratner sucks and his Rush Hour movies suck. Anyway, I was impressed with Hugh Jackman's Wolverine, even though I originally didn't think he was right for the part. Wolverine: X-Men Origins should be sweet and I'm looking forward to seeing my favorite X-Man, Gambit. Taylor Kitsch, you better do a good job!

9. Spider Man

It seems like the third movie in a trilogy is always the weakest. This was the case for Spider Man. I would just like to say, "Nice dancing, Pete" and could you be a little more emo next time. The first two movies were really good. There were too many villains in the third. It should have just been Venom and not that lame-ass Sandman. Tobey Maguire did do a good job though.

8. Pirates of the Caribbean

My boy Johnny Depp was so good in movies like Edward Scissorhands, Ed Wood, etc. I even liked his Captain Jack Sparrow. The first one was so fresh and new. Then came the bloated sequels. Both the sequels needed more Jack and less Orlando and Knightley (even though she's nice to look at). There are talks of a fourth pirates and I hope they are better than these last two.

7. Die Hard

John McClane was, and still is, a bad ass. Bruce Willis rocked the bald head in the fourth film, which was pretty good. However, the first three are where it's at. I loved how McClane was just one of New York's finest and not some secret agent or something. He was just a shoe-less cop trying to bring down some terrorists. I think it is what Bruce Willis is most well-known for.

6. Jason Bourne

Matt Damon is Jason Bourne. The third installment in this series was the best. I loved the action and there was no bullshit love story, just Bourne trying to discover his past. The whole trilogy was good and I was genuinely interested in the Bourne character. Although his "condition" was a bit ridiculous, I was still entertained and wanted to know more about Jason Bourne.

5. Back to the Future

This is heavy! Marty McFly somehow seemed cool. I guess it was the '80's. Michael J. Fox looked like was 12, but he still pulled off the witty and smart-assed character. These films are just fun and full of iconic moments with the DeLorean time machine, hovering skateboards, etc. It feels like a Spielberg movie, but really it was Robert Zemeckis who wrote and directed them (Spielberg produced).

4. Indiana Jones

I still crack up when Indy just shoots the swordsmen. It's just classic Indy...no bullshit just get the job done. These movies are also fun and exciting to watch. There will probably never be adventure character like him (they've tried with The Mummy and Sahara). Harrison Ford is just cool and Indy embodies coolness. The fourth film is getting a lot of hype and I think it deserves every bit of it.

3. The Godfather

If it wasn't for the third film, this trilogy would be number 1. However, there is a third. The two films could be considered the greatest two films in history. There was Brando in the first, De Niro in the second, and in the third...Sofia Coppola? She is definitely a better director than an actress. The third was good, but not great, and that was the problem.

2. Lord of the Rings

These movies were simply spectacular. Peter Jackson's epic is an instant classic. It deserved all the awards, all the praise, all the accolades, etc. They were entertaining, emotional, and gripping. If it wasn't for a "space trilogy," this would be number 1 on the list. The Hobbit looks promising with Guillermo Del Toro directing and Peter Jackson producing, and I hope it can live up to other movies in this series.

1. Star Wars

The greatest trilogy of the all time: Star Wars. Everyone has seen the "second" trilogy, Episodes IV - VI, so I don't even have to explain why Star Wars is the greatest trilogy of all time. The reason why I love them is the fact that there is a clear distinction in good and evil: Luke Skywalker is good and Darth Vader is evil. By the way, you didn't miss anything if you didn't see the "first" trilogy (Episodes I - III).

Honorable mention: Shrek trilogy, Terminator trilogy

Oh God, not Garden State. People that liked Garden State are the same dumbasses that thought Waking Life was a masterpiece. At least we can agree on hating Zach Braff. And yeah, the third movies are usually the worst. I would still rather watch Alien 3 than any X-men movie though. I'd bet that most people would be able to pick a memorable Mad Max scene or a quote but wouldn't remember any from Spiderman or X-men.

Seriously, dude. Garden State? Low blow.
